Pasadena's Holiday Lighted Parade
Saturday, December 6, 2013
Parade begins at 7:00 p.m.
on Fairmont Parkway
On Saturday, a section of one of Pasadena’s busiest roads will be filled with a different kind of traffic: lighted parade entries from more than a dozen community groups, businesses and organizations. Together with the Strawberry Festival, the City of Pasadena will host its annual Holiday Lighted Parade on December 7 beginning at 7 p.m.
The parade will travel along Fairmont Pkwy, from Burke to Pansy and then back to Preston (view route map here). This route is new this year and was designed to extend the length of the route and allow spectators to watch the parade from either side of the roadway.
Parade chairman Steve Andreno encouraged everyone in the community to attend.
“The whole idea behind this parade was to give people in our community a way to come together and celebrate the holidays,” Andreno said. “We want the entire city to come out, be a part of it and show their holiday spirit.”
All of the entries in the parade will have lights, and this year, entrants include local businesses, non-profit groups, churches, schools and government agencies. One of the featured entrants this year will be Pasadena Independent School District’s All-City band, which is comprised of students from all ten of the district’s intermediate schools.
Awards will be given in eight categories, including best overall, best lighted entry, most holiday spirit and most unique.
