San Jacinto College is a two-year community college that services east Harris County with three campuses and two extension centers. The Central campus, the oldest and largest of the campuses, is located in Pasadena.

The college awards the associate of applied science and associate of arts degrees, as well as the certificate of technology. Students may chose from daytime, evening, weekend, televised and Internet classes.

Districtwide, some 20,000 students attend classes each semester. Along with some 100 credit programs in academics and technical fields, the college serves its communities with continuing education and business/industry contract classes.

This branch of the University of Houston system opened in 1974. It accepts students who have had 54 hours of college credit or the equivalent for upper-level and graduate courses. The university is located at 2700 Bay Area Blvd. For general information, call 283-7600.

Bachelor’s and master’s degrees can be earned from the university’s four schools -- Business and Public Administration, Education, Humanities and Fine Arts and Natural and Applied Sciences.

University of Phoenix offers programs designed by academic professionals, often in collaboration with industry professionals, to ensure quality, relevance and rigor. Classes meet once per week in the evening, so you can pursue educational goals while maintaining personal and professional commitments.

The on-campus courses offered at this University of Phoenix location in Texas focus mainly on business and management. Founded in 1908, the college is a private institution licensed to confer the doctor of chiropractic degree as well as the bachelor of science degree in human biology. Doctoral candidates attend a 10-trimester program.

Adjacent to the schools is the Texas Chiropractic College Health Center. It is accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It offers services including radiology, clinical laboratory and physical medicine and rehabilitation.
