Cody Ray Wheeler District D
Councilman Cody Ray Wheeler was born in Dalhart, Texas and moved to Pasadena at the age of six. He is the product of a proud and humble working class family that emphasized the value of family, faith, hard-work, and fairness. Cody is proud to have attended McMasters Elementary, Park Wood Elementary, Deepwater Elementary, and Deepwater Junior High.
Upon graduating high school, Cody made the commitment to serve his country and community in the United States Marine Corps (2003-2007). He served with Alpha Battery 1st Battalion 10th Marines and Echo Battery 2nd Battalion 10th Marines. While in the Marines, he grew as a person, a man, and a leader. Cody deployed twice to Iraq (2005, 2006). In addition to achieving the rank of Sergeant in merely 3 years, Cody was decorated with the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Ribbon. Cody was also a 2nd award rifle expert. Although Cody received an Honorable Discharge, he took with him much more than that. Cody took with him the knowledge and understanding that people from all walks of life, creeds, colors are just that—people.
Upon returning home, Cody attended the University of Houston where he worked diligently to graduate, with honors, with a degree in Political Science. Currently, Cody is working towards his Masters in Public Administration at the University of Houston and he is employed by the State Comptroller’s Office.
