Discounted adoptions, low-cost vaccinations and family fun at Cause for Paws
Feb 24 2017 - 05:20:00 pm
The second annual Cause for Paws Adopt-a-Thon & Expo will be held March 4-5 at the Pasadena Rodeo Arena & Campbell Hall, located at 7600 Red Bluff Road. More than a hundred cats and dogs will be available for on-the-spot adoptions through the 10 local shelters that are participating. During this event, the adoption fees will be reduced to $25 and will include initial vaccinations, a microchip, spay/neuter, leash and collar.

This free, family-friendly event will include a petting zoo and pony rides (Saturday only), as well as a canine agility course, face painting, and entertainment provided by the University of Houston cheerleaders. More than fifty vendors, as well as food trucks and concessions, will be present.

Pet owners can take advantage of free microchips (while supplies last) and low-cost vaccinations. Adoption counselors will be on-site to facilitate introductions between existing pets and adoptable animals.

The event will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Approximately 2,000 people attended the inaugural Cause for Paws event last year, resulting in 135 on-the-spot adoptions. The participating shelters—Pasadena Animal Shelter, League City Animal Control, Webster Animal Shelter, Bayou Animal Services, Fort Bend County Animal Services, BARC, Houston Humane Society, Galveston Island Humane Society, Galveston County Animal Services, and Veterinary Public Health - Harris County—hope to double the turnout and adoptions this year.
