ETMC EMS membership available for emergency transport charges
Sep 16 2014 - 03:56:00 pm
Enrollment is open now through Sept. 30 for ETMC EMS membership.

Membership costs $60 per year for those with health insurance, and $68 per year for those without health insurance. “An average transport costs $750 and most insurance, including Medicare, will not cover the full amount of an ambulance bill,” said Mignon Adams, director of ETMC EMS memberships.

For those with insurance, ETMC EMS membership includes full coverage of billed emergency transport charges. “Membership in the program protects insured members from costly out-of-pocket expenses, because it prepays any portion of the ambulance charges not covered by insurance or Medicare,” said Adams.

ETMC EMS membership for those without insurance provides 50 percent coverage of billed emergency transport charges for members and coverage of the portion not reimbursed by insurance for medically necessary non-emergency transportation to or from a hospital or nursing home, including coinsurance and deductible.

“Membership coverage is for all qualified members of a household, including you, your spouse and your dependent children living in your residence who are younger than 21, or 25 if in college,” said Adams.

ETMC EMS covers all of Henderson and Kaufman counties, as well as most of Ellis, Franklin, Houston, Panola and Smith counties. Portions of Cherokee, Collin, Harris, McLennan, Trinity, Upshur and Wood counties are covered as well.
