Volunteers needed for emergency management training exercise
Feb 16 2017 - 07:04:00 pm
The City of Pasadena is seeking volunteers to serve as simulated evacuees during a Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) region-wide, full scale Hurricane Evacuation exercise June 5-6.

Exercise Scenario: Hurricane Charlie, a major Category 4 or 5 storm, has entered the Gulf and is threatening the east Texas coastal region. City officials have activated their emergency plans and have urged citizens to evacuate.

As part of this exercise, volunteers will be asked to report to the Southeast Harris County Regional Transportation Hub, located at the Pasadena Convention Center, on June 5. Volunteers will be registered, processed, and transported via a coach bus to an evacuation center in another part of the state, spend the night at a simulated evacuation shelter and return to the Southeast Harris County Regional Transportation Hub the next day (June 6).

If you are interested in assisting the city in testing the region’s evacuation plans prior to an actual hurricane, please contact the Pasadena Office of Emergency Management at (713) 475-5588 or via email at
