The new Fire Station 5 is now open! Mayor Johnny Isbell, members of City Council, city staff, members of the Pasadena Volunteer Fire Department and many community partners gathered on Saturday, Sept. 17 for the grand opening ceremony.

The new state-of-the-art facility replaces the old fire station, which was built in 1963, and features many new amenities for the busiest fire station in the city.

“This two-story building offers much more space for our firefighters and their equipment,” Mayor Johnny Isbell said at the grand opening. “It features drive-through bays, a large training room, a much bigger parking area and a work stations for officers.”

He went on to highlight the new safety features of the station.

“And most importantly, it’s safer. Our firefighters do a great job of keeping us all safe, and we want to do the same for them,” Mayor Isbell said. “That’s why this new fire station has so many safety features, like bays doors that are rated for a Category 5 hurricane. That means the doors here can withstand winds that are up to 175 miles per hour. And these doors open faster, which helps make our fire department’s already outstanding response time even faster.”

Photos of the new fire station are available in the City's online photo gallery. The new Fire Station 5 is located at 4725 Spencer. For more information, contact the Pasadena Volunteer Fire Department at (713) 475-5554.
